{Fears}

I just recently completed Carolyn Mara Borlenghi's The Unapologetic Artist class at The DEFINE School. It was amazing.

Below you will find my project on {Fears} that I created during the course of the class.

Fears. They forebode an uncontrollable feeling of danger and threat whether it be true or not to so many. This project has given me an opportunity to express and work through many of my everyday fears. The fear each image represents was present during the process of each self portrait taken in this series. I feel my art is very deep and personal to me. I find myself drawn to the darker side in photography. Through the use of deep shadows and light in my black and white images I aim to convey a variety of emotions. We all have fears. I believe by viewing and connecting with the fears of others one can begin to face the fears deep within themselves.

Life {Unscripted} Vol.12

Volume 12 of Life {Unscripted} is here just in time for me to share

some of my trip to Tennessee to visit family.

Here's a small sample of the many images I took a couple of weeks ago.

I miss everyone already.

Crystal Raynard Photography is up next and she

has such a way with capturing {Unscripted} moments.

I do hope you'll check her out!

BW Child Photo Competition 2015

I loved finding out that my double exposure image, {Eyes}, of my daughter Linhsey was nominated in the first half of the 2015 BW Child Photo Competition in the Conceptual and Photo Manipulation Category.

I see so many others whom I admire and respect that have made it into this competition, and I couldn't be happier for them. I think we all have an understanding of what goes into this craft.

It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions,

but I wouldn't want it any other way.

They are accepting entries for the second half of the competition now.

Go enter!

The Greenhouse & Gardens

Perfumes are the feelings of flowers, and as the human heart, imagining itself alone and unwatched, feels most deeply in the night-time, so seems it as if the flowers, in musing modesty, await the mantling eventide ere they give themselves up wholly to feeling, and breathe forth their sweetest odours. Flow forth, ye perfumes of my heart, and seek beyond these mountains the dear one of my dreams! ~Heinrich Heine, "The Hartz Journey" (1824)

Life {Unscripted} Blog Circle Volume 6

Welcome to L{U's} 6th blog circle edition. Thank you and Welcome if you're popping over from Diana's blog!  It was perfect timing this month. My son's marching band and jazz band travels to Florida every other year to perform in Walt Disney Word and Universal Studios. As a Junior this year this was his last time traveling with his school.

Bittersweet.

There were some great performances, and as drum captain this year his hard work has paid off.

A big moment for me. My son is looking at my art hanging on a local museum's wall in my very first juried art exhibition.

The Creativity Project {Body Parts, Age}

The theme this month for The Creativity Project is {Body Parts & Age}.

Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain... To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices - today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.

~Kevyn Aucoin

Vulnerability is the essence of romance. It's the art of being uncalculated, the willingness to look foolish, the courage to say, 'This is me, and I'm interested in you enough to show you my flaws with the hope that you may embrace me for all that I am but, more important, all that I am not.'

Ashton Kutcher

A lot of people resist transition and therefore never allow themselves to enjoy who they are. Embrace the change, no matter what it is; once you do, you can learn about the new world you're in and take advantage of it.

Nikki Giovanni

Those who improve with age embrace the power of personal growth and personal achievement and begin to replace youth with wisdom, innocence with understanding, and lack of purpose with self-actualization. Bo BennettI think this theme came at a perfect time in my life.

I know this next photographer in our circle will do something great this month . S. Badiyah Austin from s0-i-blog always post the most beautiful, thought provoking, true to life posts. Please click HERE to her blog. Once you are done making your way through the circle come on over to our Facebook page and share your images for this month's theme!
