Sunday Snapshot

Looking back I have no idea why it took me time to embrace who she is and that she wasn't frilly and pink and baby doll loving. Now I can't imagine her any other way....ever.

Love this girl to the moon and back and to the moon and back and to the moon and back {as she would say}....

Sunday Snapshot {Counting the Rings}

She's been sick for over a week and it has made its' way through everyone in the house now. This morning she woke up and drew a "Cycle of Sickness". Her words, not mine. She started off with Kristen, Gene's girlfriend {Sorry Kristen!} and from there it went to Gene, her, and so on. She labeled everyone's symptoms. She put down asthma for Kristen...I saw fever, sore throat and cough thrown in the chart too.

Here's hoping to a fresh start this week!

Sunday Snapshot

After numerous trips to the tree farm in the past month, we finally got our tree yesterday. I adore this shot of Linhsey with her arms around Gene. Can you tell she loves her big brother? They carefully examined each tree in search of the one we would bring home.I of course had to get some shots of them together because really, how often does that happen?I love it when she goes into deep thought. I wonder what she is thinking here?

The tree made it home and was adorned with lights and candy canes. Today we'll put on the ornaments and hope for the best with 2 dogs and  a cat. Charlie is going to have a great time!

Sunday Snapshot~

Yesterday we took Linhsey to ride the North Pole Express in New Hope, PA.  As the train approached she didn't know what to expect...Whatever concerns she had were soon replaced with excitement...And even more excitement when we were seated because they served cookies... And candy canes, and even hot cocoa...She sang Christmas carols...And she met Mrs. Claus who told her she was on the nice list...And then it happened...Santa came and they had a chat. She wasn't sure what she wanted for Christmas. She hasn't been feeling very festive with knowing all of the damage Hurricane Sandy has done. In the end she was able to tell Santa she wanted a Furby, and he gave her a magic bell. On the way back she sat there contemplating the events, and in the end she said it was the best. day. ever.

Yesterday morning we headed to a pool party for the little boy who has professed his love for L. Apparently the feelings are mutual so she informed us.

After that we headed to PA to L's cousin A's house to celebrate their Grandfather's birthday.

It was a day full of fun in the sun....and water.

These were taken with my 24-70 f2.8 and 100mm f/2. They were edited in Photoshop CS6 using Red Leaf Studios Film Solution actions. I used the Color|400 action with no adjustments. I love using these actions because when I look at the final images I feel like I am looking at images from my father's photo albums. They give the images a film like feel and make me feel nostalgic for my childhood. I'm so happy my father documented my childhood through photos.

I'm still under the weather so not much went on this weekend. I was able to go outside for a few minutes tonight for these shots and some baseball with L.

Can you tell these two are bored to tears with me being sick?

Here's to a new day tomorrow.... fever free I hope.

Sunday Snapshot

This weekend was perfect. I don't say that often.

We had beautiful weather all weekend. We started off with opening day at the Racetrack on Saturday. Finished the day off with dinner at McLoone's in Asbury Park, and a little beach action.

Sunday we had breakfast at the beach with my parents and aunt, and then headed to opening day at the Red Bank Farmer's Market. We enjoyed the rest of the day outside in the yard {sprinklers, football and s'mores were involved}.

My L. She has a love for karate. They skipped her up 2 levels and now she is in with the higher ranking yellow belts and above. We just ordered her sparring gear. She takes it seriously. She loves drum lessons and the fact that the teacher now comes here for Gene and her. She does the same thing he does...she drums a beat on anything she can find, and it's good. It's the reason I started Gene with drum lessons when he was 6. She's kicking butt in tennis lessons each Friday now too. She loves her video games just like her big bro and rarely touches a toy. She excels in everything she tries.

With all that toughness on the outside, she is still one of the most sensitive souls I have ever known. She loves....and she does it well. She worries about others and considers their feelings. Recently my aunt was in the hospital and we had to finally tell Linhsey that she was well and had come home. She was too worried and sad about it. She cried real tears of sadness the other night while watching Spongebob. Apparently SB's snail, Gary, went to live with Patrick for a while and SB was upset. It broke. her. heart. As confident as she is, we have to reassure her about a lot. She is still upset that Mike and I went to Vegas last September, and we have to be very careful mentioning it so we don't bring on the tears.

My L. She's beyond beautiful on the inside and out.

Love her to pieces.

{ These were taken with the 50mm 1.4 on my 5D Mark II.  ISO 160, f/1.8, SS 1/160. It was around 5:30pm. I used Lightroom 4 and CS4 to do some minor tweaking. }
